Marine-Coastal Ecosystem

The coasts of Blue Patagonia unfold in one of the most biodiverse sectors of the Argentine Sea. Between Comodoro Rivadavia and Trelew, the coastal area houses more than sixty islands and bays essential for the feeding, reproduction, and nesting of numerous species of birds and marine mammals.

We have identified 8 key natural monuments for conservation: the cachiyuyo (a type of seaweed), the steamer duck, the humpback whale, the Magellanic penguin, the South American fur seal, the giant petrel, the Commerson's dolphin, and the imperial cormorant.

The richness of this environment attracts orcas, dolphins, sharks, and four species of whales: the Southern Right Whale, Humpback, Minke, and Sei. Additionally, on land, we can appreciate a great variety of fauna such as guanacos, Patagonian maras, rheas, and foxes.
